CLOSURE ORDER FOR THE 15th, JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT FOR THE PARISHES OF ACADIA, LAFAYETTE AND VERMILION
Acting pursuant to Article V, Section I, of the Louisiana Constitution of 1974, as amended, and the inherent power of this Court:
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that due to the concerns of the Court regarding the possible dangers associated with unsafe weather conditions, in the interest of the safety and well-being of the public and those employed at the courthouses, the 15th Judicial District Court for the Parishes of Acadia, Lafayette, and Vermilion shall be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, for the entirety of the workday.
IT IS HEREBY FURTHER ORDERED that all civil cases scheduled before Judge Michelle Breaux, Division E, in Vermilion Parish for Monday, January 26, 2026, are reset for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
IT IS HEREBY FURTHER ORDERED that all persons who have a civil case in Lafayette Parish scheduled before Judge David Smith, Division F, for Monday, January 26, 2026, shall contact Mallory with Judge David Smith's office to obtain their new court date.
IT IS HEREBY FURTHER ORDERED that all Children in Need of Care cases scheduled before Judge Thomas Duplantier, Division I, for Monday, January 26, 2026, are reset for Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the same time the case was set for on Monday, January 26, 2026.
IT IS HEREBY FURTHER ORDERED that all persons served to appear in criminal court at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse on Monday, January 26, 2026, (Track 2 -Judge Earles/ Trahan) are ordered to report on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
If conditions indicate that the Court needs to adjust this order, notice will be posted on the Court's website (www. I5thjdc.org), the Louisiana Supreme Court website (www.lasc.org), and with the news media.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Clerks of Court post a copy of this Order on the doors of the courthouses in the 15th Judicial District Court.
